The Road to an MBA: Episode 4 – The Final Project Begins

A New Phase Begins  Welcome back to The Road to an MBA. If the earlier episodes focused on taught modules, simulations, and structured learning, this one marks a clear shift. The taught phase of the MBA is now complete, and I’ve officially begun the MBA final project, a stage that feels less like another module and more like the point where everything comes together.  From Student to Researcher  That doesn’t mean this phase is unstructured. Far from it. However, it does feel fundamentally different from what has come before. Earlier stages of the MBA were characterised by classroom energy, group discussions, and […]

From Minds to Metrics: Psychology’s Hidden Path to Data

Studying psychology was never just an academic choice, it was a commitment. Years of training, placements, and personal investment go into becoming a qualified psychologist. It’s a demanding path, and one I pursued with passion.  But after all that effort, I found myself stuck. The job market was saturated, roles were scarce, and guidance was minimal. I had the qualifications, but no clear direction. That uncertainty was overwhelming.  The Psychology Pipeline: More Than Just Research  Psychology graduates face a maze of options, clinical training, academic research, forensic or occupational specialisms, education, HR, mental health support. But many of these paths

It wasn’t just underrepresentation; it was invisibility. The silence around us in these spaces, and the subtle nudges toward roles “more suitable” for girls, made tech feel distant and something not meant for us.  But I put the doubt aside and chose to study Management and Information Technology with a year in placement, hoping it would give

The Road to an MBA: Episode 3 – Simulating Strategy

Welcome back to “The Road to an MBA” and what a ride it’s been. In this episode, I want to share my experience of the most intense module yet: Strategic Advantage. Unlike previous modules, this one dropped us into the driver’s seat of a virtual business and asked us to navigate real-time strategic decisions as the executive board of a fictional sneaker company. Let’s just say, we learned the difference between theory and practice very quickly. The Simulation: Fast-Paced, High Stakes, and Surprisingly Real The Edumundo simulation was a team-based business game where we ran a sneaker brand, making decisions

My Journey into Data Consultancy: A Summer with Cloud Perspective

As my nine-week placement at Cloud Perspective wraps up, I’ve taken time to reflect on a journey that not only shaped my thinking and confirmed my career direction, it also opened the door to exciting opportunities in data consultancy. Coming in, I imagined a typical office setting: quiet desks, minimal social interaction, heads down in code. But what I found couldn’t have been more different. The atmosphere was open and warm, people genuinely cared, and conversations flowed naturally. I quickly felt part of a team that valued curiosity, collaboration, and even a bit of fun.  What I Brought With Me
